  • The Wedding Venue text: Caroline and Marc chose to marry at the small Catholic church in a remote village in the Brittany region of France. Their parish priest travelled from Paris to perform the ceremony and the reception was held at a chateaux in the same village with sweeping views of the countryside.

  • Our Caroline, who we consider our own daughter was married last week in the Brittany region on France. Caroline's husband, Marc was raised there and Caroline wanted to have the wedding there as a sign of her love for him. Caroline and Marc live and work in Paris and Caroline and I are busy making their first flat together a chic and warm first home. My husband Richard and I served as the witnesses for the wedding (most French weddings don't have the bridesmaids, groomsmen, etc, that we have as a custom in the States)...Richard has always joked that if Caroline ever found a guy that he thought was good enough for her, albeit he thought the notion to be impossible, he would let Luc, Caroline's real father, walk Caroline a few pews up and then Richard would walk her the rest of the way having done the hardest part of raising her. He settled for her actually needing his signature to be legally married to Marc and to stand right next to the couple while saying their vows. It was an emotion filled, day and one of the best days of our lives. We could not be more proud.

  • While in Florida settling our son into his University, Hurricane Irene was off the coast bouncing off the Bahamas and stirring up waves here on the east coast of South Florida that looked like they belonged in Hawaii. We walked the beach to watch the waves and found that the baby turtles that had just hatched and headed to the ocean had been washed into the dunes by the enormous waves. We helped the babies back into the ocean that had calmed since the storm had passed
